Understanding Official Tennis Court Dimensions
Permalink

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to get a clear understanding of official tennis court dimensions for a project I’m working on. I know the court length is 78 feet, but I’m a bit confused about the width differences between singles and doubles matches. Also, how far is the net from the posts versus the center?

Are there standard measurements for the service boxes and baseline markings that I should be aware of? I want to make sure any diagrams or models I create are accurate. Any detailed explanations, diagrams, or official references would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! The official tennis court is 78 feet long. For singles matches, the court is 27 feet wide, while for doubles it’s 36 feet wide. The net is 3 feet high at the center and 3 feet 6 inches at the posts. The service line is 21 feet from the net, creating two equal service boxes on each side. When drawing or modeling, it’s important to pay attention to tennis court dimensions to ensure accuracy. Baselines run along the far ends of the court, and the sidelines vary depending on singles or doubles play. The center service line divides the service boxes, and all markings follow ITF standards.
