Hi all,

Just finished an Optima battery replacement and thought I’d share some useful advice. Start by verifying which Optima model—RedTop, YellowTop, or BlueTop—fits your vehicle. During the Optima battery replacement, always disconnect the negative terminal first to prevent electrical shorts.

Clean the terminals and battery tray before securing the new unit tightly in place. After installation, check the voltage and charging system to confirm everything’s working correctly. Great post! Those are some solid tips for anyone doing an Optima battery replacement. I’d also suggest checking the alternator output if you’re replacing an older battery—sometimes charging issues come from there rather than the battery itself. It’s also smart to apply a small amount of dielectric grease on the terminals to prevent corrosion over time.
