Enhancing Safety and Morale on Site – Tips from The Fancy Dress
Permalink

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all keeping safe and productive in the field. I wanted to share a light-hearted idea that’s been a hit with both engineers and clients alike—using themed safety days to boost team spirit and reinforce PPE best practices.

At The Fancy Dress, we noticed that even routine tasks can feel a bit tedious, especially during long projects. That’s why we started occasional “Safety Spotlight” days on site. One week, the team might gear up in coordinated high-visibility themed outfits—think colour-coded hard hats, funny safety vests, or even superhero-themed safety gear—while still maintaining all essential PPE requirements.

Why this works:

  • Boosts team morale: Partnering on a small fun detail reminds everyone that safety doesn’t have to be dull—it can be engaging.

  • Reinforces PPE habits: Incorporating creative flair into safety gear discussions makes talking about on-site protocols more memorable.

  • Creates buzz: We take a quick photo, highlight the day in our weekly update or toolbox talk, and it generates more attentiveness than a standard slide deck.

Last month, our “Safety Superheroes” day had everyone in capes, logoed caps, and safety glasses. We even included a short quiz about hand protection—turning important reminders into a quick game with spot prizes. The result? A serious topic delivered with a smile that stuck with the team.

If you’re looking to reinforce safe habits in a novel way, themed safety days could be the boost your site needs. It shows that you value strong safety culture and great team spirit.

Curious to hear if anyone else has tried similar ideas or has other morale-boosting safety rituals in place!

Stay safe and keep building with pride,
